In the second last picture, it touched me because it seemed like KHottest were kneeling on the floor (?) ;____________________; And the third last picture just showed the power of KHottest.

I do hope he comes back. I hope JYP issues some REAL confirmation (like, maybe his Twitter or something).

Aahhhhhhhhhhhhh Jay, one of my favourite jokers ♥ I hope you have a good rest in America. Don't beat yourself hard about it!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine the kind of pain he's probably going through right now. :'(

: Leader Jaebeom to quit 2PM
Posted by XYZ at 1:28 PM

Park Jaebum himself and JYP confirmed his departure from 2PM.

On September 8th 11:59PM, Jaebum wrote on his fancafe "Hello, I'm 2PM's JaeBum. I'm sorry for giving you my last greeting through this letter. I think it will be hard for me to see you all on stage because of my sorry heart. I'm really sorry to everyone, and I'm even more sorry to the fans who have shown me love.
From today, I will leave 2PM.
2PM boys, I'm really sorry to the boys and I'm sorry I couldn't be strong as a leader and a hyung and have to leave like this.
However, I hope you will be more cool and charming.
Again, I'm sorry."

Jaebum said "I am sorry to everyone, especially to the fans who loved me and stuck by me. From today I will break away from 2PM"

JAebum finally wrote "I am very sorry to the 2PM guys and to others that I couldn't be a good enough leader and hyung. I apologize again."

JYP Entertainment also confirmed through a phone interview with Newsen that the departure of Jaebum from 2PM is indeed true.

Hearing about his departure from 2PM, one of the biggest and most popular idol groups, there was lots of commotion and distress from netizens.

One person said "Jaebum's actions were indeed wrong but he did apologize and did all he could. I am very worried about how the fans will react."

Translation by pinkiyoojin @ LJ

I can't confirm this on allkpop, but Newsen reported it and I'm just pissed off right now.

Most of you should know that Jay is involved in this incident where he wrote on his myspace 4 years ago as a trainee about how Korea is gay and how he wants to go back to America.

Netizens have completely blown this matter out of proportion because he is truly sorry and it was all an immature act afterall!

Tbh, I think it's got to do with pride. Just last year my friends were going around calling everyone and EVERYTHING GAY. It's like a phrase, a figure of speech, an expression.

I AM IN SHOCK RIGHT NOW. Will wait for JYP's tweet to confirm this. Apparently he forced Jay to quit, or to demote from his position as leader.

4.8.09 : [090804] TVXQ saga
Posted by XYZ at 11:59 PM

Note: This post is sticky for today. Scroll down for more updates.

Click here for SM Entertainment's official statement towards the TVXQ saga.

In latest news, an interview with a close acquaintance of the group.

The future of idol group DBSK is uncertain. DBSK’s 3 members (Micky YooChun, Xiah Junsu, Youngwoong Jaejoong) and SM’s trouble is too deep. Although they state that there will be no disbandment, in reality, disbandment is more than likely. Even if they avoid the worst case scenario, disbandment, it feels like their departure of SM is set.

On the third, a acquaintance of the 3 members said, “settlement with SM has been tried multiple times. But their differences couldn’t be settled. The reason this went to court is because they couldn’t find a point to settle.” Thus, they concluded that more attempts for negotiations was useless.

The acquaintance that the reporter met is someone who has watched over DBSK very closely. He has experienced all ups and downs since debut until now. According to him, DBSK advocated for only one thing. They wanted conditions of the contract to be eased. However, it has gotten to a point where the conversations between the two parties have gone nowhere.

He stated, “they asked for the contract term and earnings distribution to be revised because everyone could tell it was irrational. They attempted to negotiate until the end but they felt that SM was avoiding them. Therefore, things got emotional for both parties and the 3 members are even more angry with SM’s response.”

“The truth about the 3 things that SM distorted.”

After the initial reports about this incident, SM sent documents on the 1st and the 3rd. On the first, they reported that this problem was due to the makeup company investment and they will work it out. After the contract conditions were reported, they responded that members were paid 11 billion Won and were given foreign cars as presents.

In response to this, he stated, “the nature of this instance is the unfair contract, not the make up company. However, SM has not mentioned the contract conditions and have continued to use make up company issues to play with the media.”

Additionally, he discussed about the 11 billion Won. He said, “let’s say SM is right and that they were paid 11 billion won for the 6 years of work. This is the pre-tax profit. After taxes were paid, and this amount is divided by 6 years, and 5 members, this is less than 200 million won per member. For the first half of this year, the profits from album sales in Japan is 2.5 billion Yen (33 billion won). However, DBSK doesn’t even receive 200 million won per year.”

The total number of albums released in and outside of Korea is 48. Out of these, including singles and full albums, 1.96 million copies were sold in Korea. In Japan for 4 full albums and 27 singles, 8 of those sold over 100,000 copies, and one sold over 250,000 copies. Including south-east Asia, at least 4 million albums were sold.

He also criticized abnormal methods of calculating methods. According to him, “SM requested money for back dancers and food. Basically, almost all of the expenses were paid for by DBSK.” He added, “besides this, SM created a local subsidiary and divided the earnings of DBSK into pieces. For example, SM Japan and Avex divided earnings, and this was also divided with Korean SM. With complex divisions, the money for the members were reduced.

Also, he stated that the foreign cars were given to them under the company’s name. “They received cars from SM after an award ceremony. However, the cars were registered in SM’s name and is not owned by DBSK.”

“The three members are as tired as they can get.”

According to this acquaintance, the three members of DBSK are tired of SM’s play with the press. They have no intention to solve this with mere words, and are extremely upset that SM is exaggerating only one side of the story, distorting the truth. He said, “they expected SM to twist words with the press but didn’t realize it would be to this extent. If SM continues this method, I think it would be nearly impossible to work together with SM again. I suspect that they will part with SM and try to find a different solution to settle this.

Their departure from SM does not bean the disbandment of DBSK. He asserts that there is no problems in relationships between all the members. They are still like family and agree that in any situations, they must work together. He said, “Truthfully, all five had the same intentions. But in the process of negotiations, there was differences between the members. That is why only 3 members decided to fight with their company. They all agree that the contract conditions are irrational, it is just that their way of handling it is different.”

“DBSK will continue even after departure with SM”

Micky YooChun, Xiah Junsu, Youngwoong Jaejoong’s will is stronger than ever. The acquittance reported that, “the 3 members are showing stronger wills than before debut. The three members are determined to stick together no matter what hardships come their way.”

They are also determined to get back together as 5 members under the name DBSK. He revealed, “even if the 3 members leave SM through lawsuit, this only means departure from SM. This does NOT mean the disbandment of DBSK. It may be after the 2 remaining members leave, or if they perform from 2 different companies; the 5 want to continue with DBSK.”

Well then, if 3 members leave SM, would they still be able to use the name ‘DBSK.’ Upon researching in the Industrial Property Office, the group name ‘DBSK’ is not registered. SM registered for DBSK trademark in 2004 but was denied. In other words, SM does NOT have the right to the name ‘DBSK.’ According to a ‘Mansung’ Patent Law Firm Office, the patent attorney Hwang Sung Pil said, “Dong Bang means East and one cannot assert exclusive right to use it. Most likely, this was probably the reason why the application was denied 2004. SM cannot assert any trademark rights to the name. If the 5 members are together even away from SM, they will have no problems using the name.”

More than anything, DBSK feels extremely sorry to their fans. This is why they want to go through with performances that were already scheduled. The acquaintance reported, “if they lose the lawsuit, they may have to pay an extreme amount of money for penalty. More than that, they are going through hard times thinking that they will have to be away from their fans while the lawsuit is in process.”

3.8.09 : TVXQ/DBSK's official statements on dispute
Posted by XYZ at 11:59 PM

Note: This post is sticky for today!

This issue/news got so big I got the shock of my life when I actually saw it in print on the back page of today's paper. The Life! section, for Singaporeans. ;D

Anyway, after all that anxiety and waiting...

Their lawyer stated on behalf of the three boys, "During the five years after they debuted, the company has done whatever they wanted which made the body and spirit of the members of TVXQ very tired. The 13 year exclusive contract is too long that, which to them, feels like a life long contract. The members don't receive what they deserve."

Because of the carelessness of the company, Korea's No.1 boys have been suffering from both mental and physical fatigue and feel that they are just being used for profit for the company. Not only are there standards that have to be met in order to be paid at all, the boys also receive only a few hours of sleep a day, which is nothing close to what just one day in their schedule needs! Additionally, the 13 year long contract, which excludes the time they will be completing their military activities, will exceed over a mind boggling 15 years.... and it hasn't even been close to 13 years yet! Although the boys have considered it, cancelling the contract is also out of the question, as there is a huge price to pay - approximately a several billion South Korea won (KRW).

The lawyer expressed, "The members don't want to disband, but they just feel that the contract is ridiculous. Right now, the things each of the three members want is a little different, however, the relationship between the members is still unaffected, as they still want to be one."

TVXQ's reasons:

1. During the five years after debut, the members were forced to follow a strict and tight schedule according to their company which made them very tired.

2. The 13 year exclusive contract is basically a lifetime contract.

3. The members aren't getting what they deserve from SM.

4. Multiple times had the members suggested that their contract be revised, but the company did not listen to the members' opinions.

5. The outcome of their cosmetics shop has nothing to do with our singing career.

6. The members have never wanted the disbandment of our group. The issue just spurred from the boys wanting some freedom from the contract.

7. Although we have caused some ruckus, we will only become better from here.

(credits and a million gazillion thanks to Sookyeong posting it up.)

One should note that the dispute is far from being resolved, but we should all just breathe because they boys will stay as one. They are just annoyed with the contract's binds, but they wish to stay together.

(breathes out)

Sorry for the late updates and all that. :\

27.6.09 : [090626] More on the incident at Music Bank
Posted by XYZ at 1:44 PM

Updated: Onew's test results have shown that he is fine and he has since been released from hospital. He'll be performing with SHINee on Music Core today.

Apparently, the lighting structure had collapsed, but not directly on Onew. There were many other stars standing there when it collapsed, but Onew fainted and people speculate that it was probably due to the hurt ankle (which he injured when he slipped during Juliette), lack of sleep, screaming fans (noise) and the chaos from the falling structure which led to him fainting.

{Video credits to pherenal, shineer5 @ Youtube}

From the above video, the lighting fixture fell at about 1:09. Before, Onew was limping off the stage with the help of Minho and a few others that I can't tell because it's fuzzy and the clothes don't stand out.

Anyway, Onew leaned onto their manager's shoulder and can be seen carrying off the stage later in the video, with Taemin and Minho close behind. Leeteuk also rushes towards them, followed by Jonghyun.

From the video below, you can tell how big and heavy the lighting structure is, considering how so many people were there to push and hold it up.

Other idols and staff, such as Yesung and Sungmin were also present when the structure fell.

Onew is said to be in stable condition, I hope he rests well!

29.12.08 : Strike!
Posted by Connie at 1:23 AM

WHOAAAAAAA, such a huge news and I didn't even notice it D:

Credits to coolsmurf

Korean Broadcast Unions To Strike Against Media Legislation Bills.

The National Union of Media Workers (NUMW) in Korea will hold a general strike beginning today, 26th December to protest the ruling Grand National Party’s (GNP) proposed revisions to seven media-related bills which they believed is an attempt by the Lee Myung Bak administration to seize control of the media.

Uncertain Times Ahead as Korean Broadcast Unions Goes On Strike

The labour unions of MBC, KBS, SBS, YTN, EBS and CBS have announced their decision to join the strike one after another yesterday with the impact far greater than imagined. The MBC labor union has announced that all of its union members will be actively participating in the strike meaning that regular programming could be affected. It remains unclear whether the year-end MBC Drama Awards and Gayo Daejun will be able to go on as scheduled.

We Got Married, Infinity Challenge, Golden Fishery plus other variety shows are all affected by this as the production workers are set to go on strike. Other than daily dramas which are produced solely by MBC, other dramas currently being aired are unlikely to be affected by this strike. This is because most of the dramas are outsourced to a third party production company and does not belong to MBC. One prime example is the East of Eden drama production which will be filming as normal. The news department will also be affected as announcers Park Hye Jin and Kim Joo Ha will also be participating in the strike.

MBC has expressed that it would be mobilizing all available resources to recruit temporary staff to ensure that the year-end MBC Drama Awards (29th December) and Gayo Daejun (30th December) will go on as scheduled and run smoothly. With the Gayo Daejun requiring more manpower than the Drama Awards, it will be an ardous task for MBC to find the required manpower to complete the stage setting and broadcast in a few days time.

The above is only MBC. The same goes for SBS, KBS and other broadcasters whose labor union members will be actively participating in the strike. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that everything will go on as scheduled.

Major news man, if things get worse all the end of year shows, award ceremonies etc are like kaboosh-ed, gone with the wind, whammo-ified, poof-ed.

I really hope this strike actually blows over so that everything can actually proceed as originally planned. This strike actually affects a lot of people's work, especially those working in the entertainment industry.

Thus, I'm praying that everything will be straightened out soon :)

18.12.08 : Korean Fair Trade Comission
Posted by Connie at 12:25 AM

Hi you all, sorry that I've MIA-ed for a few posts.
Well, I'm a busy person, heh.

Currently at my friend's house, using her super mini laptop, which's making life difficult for me since I'm a computer idiot, lollll.

(P.S I'm posting this post at home)

Managed to grab some article from coolsmurf.
It was announced yesterday that the Korea Fair Trade Commission had sent notice to 10 major entertainment companies recently, asking them to modify some contract terms that was judged to be unfair to their artistes.

The “slavery” contracts were uncovered when the Korea Fair Trade Commission ran a check on the contracts of 354 artistes belonging to 10 major entertainment companies (see list below). Apart from a few elite artistes, most of the artistes had signed contracts that weren’t beneficial to them.

The entertainment companies have since made changes or abolished the 46 terms and conditions classified under ten categories with 204 artistes affected by this change. This has created an uproar in Korea after the unfair contract terms was made known to the public and the “slavery” contract between companies and their artistes has once again come under the spotlight.

The 10 biggest entertainment companies named by the Korea Fair Trade Commission to change their artistes contracts include iHQ, JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment, Yedang Entertainment, BOF, Olive9, wellmade Star, Namoo Actors, Fantom Stars and M.net. The spotlight is on the contract terms that mainly interferes with the personal life of their artistes. For example, an artiste has to first seek approval from their company before being able to go overseas (iHQ). An artiste must notify their company their present location at anytime of asking (Olive9, Fantom). An artiste lifestyle including companionship, schooling, citizenship, military enlistment, making friends, economic activities, socializing events, transportation will have to be consulted with the company (JYP Entertainment) in advance which means interfering with their personal life.

According to one Korea Fair Trade Commission representative, it’s a characteristic of the entertainment industry that artistes follow orders. But companies should not have the right to interfere with their personal life. Under the request of the Korea Fair Trade Commission, the 10 entertainment companies have either modified or abolished the unfair terms and conditions stated. iHQ for example has now changed their ruling to that their artistes need only to notify them a week before they are leaving the country.

Before this, M.net Entertainment had a ruling whereby if it’s artiste terminates their contract before it ends, they would not be able to sign on with other companies. This continues even after the contract has lapse, otherwise the artiste is liable to be sued. Artistes belonging to SM Entertainment have to appear on internet broadcasting belonging to the company for free. But these rulings will now be modified thanks to the Korea Fair Trade Commission.

Other notable terms which include companies being able to ask artistes to perform for free as and when they like, using their artistes song compositions in anyway they want to, etc have since been modified or abolished.

The representative expressed they will maintain even more stringent checks on companies in order to prevent “slavery” contracts from appearing again. For companies that do not or refuse to exercise fair contracts, they would be hauled up to court for a hearing and also slapped with a hefty fine.
Omg, Korean Fair Trade Comission's da bombzzzz.
I know I maybe a tad late on posting this, but no harm rejoicing over this piece of news again.

Finally, the artistes have rights of some sort.
If not, they're like slaves under their companies where they are forced to live and abide by strict and sometimes, I believe, have to accept unreasonable demands.

For example, I'm sure many of you are aware about the rumors of SM Entertainment ill treating their artistes, that have been circulating and can be found on Asianfanatics Forum.

Well, in my opinion, I don't think all that's said is true, but I believe to a certain extent it is. Like the fact that they force you to have plastic surgery even if you don't want to. (The fact that Junsu was asked to cut double eyelids because his eyes were too small, thank God he refused.)

And that they put you on water diets just so that you lose weight and look good for pictures. Moreover, they overwork the artistes where schedule after schedule piles up till they sleep only about an hour or two every day.

It's frustrating really, doesn't it break your heart to see the person you absolutely adore being worked till the point of exhaustion and have to be sent to the hospital?

Well, thank goodness they're making the entertainment companies in Korea rewrite their contracts for their artistes, to allow the artistes to at least have some breathing space. No more 'slavery' in a sense.

I'm so thankful and relieved.

So everyone, let's give three cheers to the Korean Fair Trade Comission.

HURRAY!

Btw, I cut my finger eating crab.
How stupid is that man, yeeeeeesh.

& someone has got to overthrow Lee Soo Man, that nasty person.
